Project Details
Population structure and divergence in the Roseobacter group - implications for the ecology and evolution (A07)
Subject Area
Microbial Ecology and Applied Microbiology
Term
from 2011 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 34509606
This project will elucidate the genomic and ecophysiological traits which vary within clades of phylogenetically related bacteria of the Roseobacter group and determine the evolutionary drivers of the ongoing speciation process. We will focus on three cohesive populations of the genus Phaeobacter identified in the previous funding phase and conduct a comparative genomic and ecophysiological analysis. Including Sulfitobacter and the RCA cluster in our comparative population genomic analysis will reveal the distinct evolutionary mechanisms that drive the divergence and adaptation processes in different Roseobacter subgroups.
