Project Details
Synthesis and controlled surface functionalization of mesoporous silica materials and ion track etched nanochannels
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term
from 2011 to 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 179546604
Based on the successful implementation of atomic layer deposition (ALD) for controlled surface coating, project TP 1 focuses now on the targeted use of ALD for surface functionalization and nanostructuring of mesoporous silica materials and ion track etched nanochannels. On the one hand, studies on ion transport in aqueous solutions will be performed by using nanochannels with different surface coatings and surface charges. On the other hand, specially tailored structures will be prepared as host systems for other TPs in order to investigate the behavior of different guest materials such as lipids, polyelectrolytes, and others in confined geometries.
