Robust Structure-Process-Optimization (C02)

Subject Area Metal-Cutting and Abrasive Manufacturing Engineering
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 61375930

Project Description

Sub-project C2 is concerned with material and topology optimization in the context of additive manufacturing (AM). Based on a new flexible multi-material optimization concept developed in the second phase, which allows to consider process dependent materials, the focus will be now on multifunctional components. The multifunctionality will be enabled by the integration of graded lattice structures, which are known to exhibit a stabilizing effect w.r.t. buckling and can provide exceptional dynamic properties, such as the suppression of undesired vibrations. By this, the design freedom of AM shall be ultimately exploited.
