Project Details
Mesoscopic simulation of selective beam melting (B04)
Subject Area
Production Automation and Assembly Technology
Term
from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 61375930
The mesoscopic scale allows the investigation of phenomena resulting from the complex interplay between beam, powder and melt. On the one hand, the numerical simulation tool, which has been restricted on metals so far, will be extended by a model for semi-crystalline thermoplastics in order to make it applicable on polymers. On the other hand, a 3D grain growth model will be implemented in order to predict the local texture of metallic components. Numerical experiments will be per-formed in order to support the experimental projects in developing innovative processing strategies.
