Structural and functional examinations of nucleotide-dependent membrane scaffolds (A12)

Subject Area Biochemistry
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 184695641

Project Description

Eps15 homology domain containing proteins (EHDs) are dynamin-related ATPases that oligomerize on membranes to form ATP-dependent scaffolds. In the past funding period, my group has used X-ray crystallography to study the activation mechanism of EHDs. In the future, we will combine biochemical, electron and superresolution light microscopy approaches to explore on a structural level of how EHDs scaffolds assemble on membranes, how they interact with their partner proteins and how they are integrated into their cellular environment to execute specific functions in membrane trafficking.
