On-The-Fly Compute Centers I: Heterogeneous Execution Environments (C02)

Subject Area Computer Architecture, Embedded and Massively Parallel Systems
Data Management, Data-Intensive Systems, Computer Science Methods in Business Informatics
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 160364472

Project Description

The objective of this subproject is the service execution on heterogeneous compute nodes: Which architectures, mechanisms for service migration and programming models are suitable for an efficient operation of heterogeneous compute nodes in an OTF Compute Center? In the third funding period, we will investigate approaches for dealing with the complexity posed by modern architectures and runtime systems. On one hand, we will apply methods of self-aware/self-adaptive computing to achieve an autonomous management of OTF compute nodes. On the other hand, we will develop techniques for modelling multi-FPGA clusters and for mapping services to such clusters.
