Dynamics in confined quantum systems (A05)

Subject Area Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170620586

Project Description

In project A5, we will explore the intricate interplay between strong electron correlation and highly nonadiabatic nuclear dynamics, i.e., atomic motions that severely violate the Born-Oppenheimer approximation (as anticipated in projects A4, B2, and B6). Furthermore, we will investigate the controlled preparation, through photoionization, of selected nonstationary states of bound, correlated quantum particles in both model systems (A6) and realistic mo-lecular systems (in collaboration with A1-A4). Project A5 represents a natural link between Areas A and B, by characterizing the emergence and temporal evolution of correlations in systems of increasing complexity (in collaboration with C6 and C7).
