Coherent control of correlated electron systems with ionizing light fields (A02)

Subject Area Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170620586

Project Description

Laser-induced quantum correlations in molecular building blocks of graphene are characterized with pulse pairs covering the UV to soft X-ray spectrum. The settable phase delay reveals the electronic response with attosecond precision. This opens new vistas for dynamic control, because driven many-body states can be strongly coupled far from equilibrium. Together with projects B5, C1 and C7, light phase control will help unravelling the mystery of light-driven correlated quantum systems and provides protocols to steer charge rearrangements on the nanoscale in collaboration with projects A1-A7 and B8.
