Founded in 1954, Oriens Extremus has continuously been devoted to outstanding research dealing with East Asian cultural and intellectual history. Having received a DFG expansion grant (2011-2013), the editors have improved the editing process. won new readers. and sharpened the journal's academic profile. ln a second phase, they now plan to transform Oriens Extremus into a hybrid journal. All articles in back issues will be converted into searchable PDF format and uploaded to the professionally run website of Hamburg University Press. ln close cooperation with the publisher. A moving wall will be established which enables electronic access to back issues after one year's time.
