Posttranslational regulation of RAC/ROP functions in barley disease susceptibility and basal resistance to powdery mildew (B08)

Subject Area Plant Breeding and Plant Pathology
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170483403

Project Description

Plant susceptibility factors are increasingly recognized as tools in plant breeding and biotechnology but the mechanisms of their molecular functions are not well understood. The ROP GTPase RACB is a susceptibility factor of barley and addressed by a virulence effector of the barley powdery mildew fungus. This project aims at understanding how RACB is activated and manipulated in susceptible barley and how RACB supports susceptibility by steering phosphoinositide metabolism and signalling.
