Project Details
Plant-to-plant signalling in biotic and abiotic stress tolerance in Arabidopsis and barley. (B06)
Subject Area
Plant Breeding and Plant Pathology
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170483403
We study the role of plant-derived air-borne infochemicals in innate immunity-related plant-to-plant signalling. The project has identified volatile monoterpenes as signals mediating systemic immunity both within and between Arabidopsis thaliana plants. The proposed work aims to identify air-borne immune signals emitted by barley plants and to characterize plant-to-plant defence signalling in barley. Furthermore, the project will clarify how plant-to-plant immune signalling influences abiotic stress responses and phytohormone cross talk in Arabidopsis and barley.
