Gamete interaction and fusion during double fertilization (A04)

Subject Area Plant Cell and Developmental Biology
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170483403

Project Description

Double fertilization in flowering plants provides the basis for embryo and endosperm development in seeds and grains but the underlying molecular processes are not well understood. We aim at characterizing the molecular function and evolutionary conservation of sperm-specific membrane proteins involved in efficient gamete fusion. Furthermore, we want to identify downstream components of the sperm activation and fusion process by comparative phosphoproteomics.
