Project Details
Influence of triboinduced films on failures and frictional behaviour of gears with particular focus on running-in processes - simulations
Applicant
Professor Dr.-Ing. Dirk Bartel
Subject Area
Engineering Design, Machine Elements, Product Development
Term
from 2011 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 200504208
The research project is applied within the framework of the priority program 1551 "Resource-efficient design elements" of the second program period. The objective of the project is the development of a simulation model for gear wheels, which should predict the running-in, friction and wear behavior, the scuffing load capacity and the fatigue life (pitting load capacity) of spur and helical gears in consideration of tribo-layers in the future. For this, extensive model developments will be carried and these are verified with experiments. The planned works make an important contribution to resource-efficient design of gear drives.
