Cell type-specific and stress-modulated microRNA target regulation (B02)

Subject Area Cell Biology
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 161793742

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a crucial role in regulating many biological processes by binding to the 3´ untranslated region of target mRNAs, thereby inducing translational repression or mRNA degradation. Although the principle mechanisms by which miRNAs mediate their biological effects are well known, analysis of miRNA-dependent gene regulation revealed that target gene expression is cell type-specific and varies under stress conditions. Here we will elucidate the mechanisms underlying the stress and cell type-specific targeting of microRNAs using miR-92a as an example.
