Project Details
Adhesion of Bacteria and Biomolecules on Microstructured Component Surfaces (B06+)
Subject Area
Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Systems, Soft and Fluid Matter, Biological Physics
Term
from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 172116086
The influence of engineered microstructured surfaces on the adhesion of single bacteria and plant cells will be studied in-situ by means of surface analytical methods. For this purpose adherent cells will be chosen, which are of biotechnological relevance. The objective is to identify correlations between adhesion forces and microstructure/cell combinations on the one hand and the resultant surface properties such as surface energy, isoelectric point, roughness, and chemical homogeneity on the other hand.
