Project Description

The project investigates whether and how motor processes contribute to the perception of space within reach. Participants are faced with dual sensorimotor tasks in which perceptual judgments are measured next to experimentally varied hand movements. The planned studies aim to clarify (1) whether movement planning affects perception or merely judgment behavior. Based on a working hypothesis it will be examined (2) how spatial perception is modulated by using of virtual tools and (3) which impact do visual and somatosensory movement feedback have. The results will contribute to a better understanding of basic principles underlying action related changes of perceptual judgments.
