Project Details
Multiscale Modeling and Simulation of Microcutting of Titanium Materials (A04)
Subject Area
Metal-Cutting and Abrasive Manufacturing Engineering
Term
from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 172116086
The project aims to derive the morphology of micromachined titanium surfaces taking the microstructure into account. For this purpose, the microcutting process will be modeled and simulated by kinematic as well as by finite element simulations, supplemented by experimental results. By combining these different simulation techniques with an appropriate material model, it is possible to analyze for the first time the effect of specific input parameters on the machining results and particularly on the resulting surface morphology.
