Effect of inclusions on temperature and loading rate dependent strength, deformation and failure behavior (C05)

Subject Area Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 169148856

Project Description

The project is focused on the detailed investigation of the kinetics of the onset of crack growth at non-metallic inclusions as a function of temperature und loading rate. The damaging effect of ductile fracture and cleavage fracture is evaluated separately by analyzing acoustic emissions in-situ. The effect of the spatial distribution and the distribution of size and shape of the non-metallic inclusions on the kinetics of the onset of crack growth and the stable and/or unstable crack propagation is investigated as a function of the crack opening mode.
