Heat transfer processes in composite filter structures (B03)

Subject Area Technical Thermodynamics
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 169148856

Project Description

Heat transfer processes in porous filter media with steel melts will be experimentally and numerically investigated. The “volumetric” heat transfer by convection of liquid metal inside porous media and the flow velocity will be determined. Moreover, thermophysical properties (including radiation) of substrates, coatings and filter media will be measured. In addition, with a new developed measuring method adsorption kinetics and adsorption equilibria will be measured. Herewith high precision data for max. solubility and diffusion coefficients from gases in molten metals will be calculated as well as additional correlation functions (isotherms, isobars, isosteres, heats of adsorption, temperature-density-functions) developed.
