Project Details
Oxide based filter materials and filter structures with active and reactive functional pores (A02)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 169148856
The aim of the project A02 is the investigation of active filter materials for the aluminum melt filtration for manufacturing thin- and thick-wall components based on aluminum. Due to the modification of the filter chemistry and roughness a high filtration efficiency over 95% of inclusions in the range of 1 to 100 is aimed. Thereby the following approaches will be investigated:a) Micro-structuring of reactive SiC filters with in-situ formation of mullite and silicon oxynitride as well as the investigation of the reactive contributions of carbon bonded alumina filtersb) Surface-structuring with the aid of electrophoresis, nano-structuring and freeze dryingc) Functional coatings based on kaliophilite
