Project Details
High-Mass Star Formation (A06)
Subject Area
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term
from 2011 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 184018867
The project studies high-mass star formation in our Galaxy following two approaches: (i) large, statistically-significant studies sensitive to cloud and clump scales (0.2--50~pc) for which we build an evolutionary sequence for high-mass stars, and (ii) detailed, high-resolution studies of specific regions at clump and core scales (<0.5~pc) with which we investigate the fragmentation, accretion, feedback and chemisty. Thanks to the advent of new and more sensitive instruments and to the sophisticated tools developed in the last period, we are now able to perform detailed studies of large, significant samples, thus closing the gap between the two parts.
