Project Details
Identification of systematic model errors by data assimilation (C06)
Subject Area
Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Limnology, Urban Water Management, Water Chemistry, Integrated Water Resources Management
Term
from 2011 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 15232683
The ensemble-based data assimilation framework set up for TerrSysMP for neutron counts from cosmic ray probes and other data will be extended to ten different data types jointly. Multi-year data assimilation experiments are performed in order to determine data value and the importance of parameter updating for fully coupled and uncoupled land surface models. Simulation results for areas where measurements are persistently outside the stochastic realizations of the ensemble will be analyzed with multivariate methods, spectral analysis and wavelet analysis to increase insight in main model structural errors.
