The Z-project and the Integrated Bioimaging Facility (iBiOs) provide access to advanced fluorescence and electron microscopy. In the next funding period, we will further optimize and apply the existing tools, such as the novel lattice light microscope and single molecule localization-based super-resolution (SR) imaging techniques. Electron microscopy (EM) approaches will include transmission electron tomography with cryofixation and freeze substitution as well as scanning EM with serial block face sectioning for three-dimensional imaging including CLEM. These techniques will be complemented by new, tailored image analysis methods.
