The molecular anatomy of synaptic vesicle recycling at the hair cell ribbon synapse (A05+)

Subject Area Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 154113120

Project Description

A05 proposes to use several molecular and metabolic imaging tools that we have recently developed, including nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry (nanoSIMS) and 10X expansion microscopy (X10), to measure protein turnover in inner hair cells (IHCs). This should enable us to suggest if sensory regimes promote IHC turnover and “rejuvenation”, which may have important consequences in hearing disorders linked to IHC degeneration.
