Mechanisms of receptor-operated Ca2+ signals in pheromone-detecting sensory neurons (A17)

Subject Area Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term from 2011 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 157660137

Project Description

We will continue to investigate mechanisms of receptor-operated Ca2+ signals in the olfactory system. We will focus on signal transduction mechanisms of sensory neurons of the vomeronasal organ (VNO) and on other recently discovered sensory neurons of the olfactory system by investigating (1) the functional role of a widely expressed V2R2 receptor; (2) receptor coding mechanisms of a potential Mup receptor; and (3) receptor mechanisms underlying the detection of low oxygen by sensory neurons of the olfactory system.
