Project Details
Di- and trinuclear transition metal complexes consisting of multidentate ligands and their application in homogeneous catalysis (B04)
Subject Area
Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2011 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 142808194
This 3MET project synthesizes di- and trinuclear transition metal complexes based on multidentate ligands, and it investigates their application in homogeneous catalysis, aiming to understand the underlying principles of cooperative effects. It follows two strategies: (a) the synthesis of complexes with redox- and light-switchable metalloligands; (b) the synthesis of heterodinuclear complexes from post-functionalization of mononuclear precursors. It will elucidate their electronic and photophysical properties and the electronic interactions between the metal atoms. It will focus on catalytic transformations and their elemental steps, on the identification of the intermediates of the catalytic cycles, and on switchable catalysts properties.
