Project Details
Visualisation of herpes virus infections and immune responses as well as their modulation (B01)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term
from 2010 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 158989968
The aim of the project B1 is to better understand interactions between immune cells and virus-infected cells and how infected cells get killed in vivo. In the last funding period we investigated the killing capacities of CD8+ T cells and NK cells in lymph nodes and skin and compared the viral tropism of MCMV proficient and deficient for MCK-2 in lungs of neonatal mice. In the next funding period, we aim to understand the heterogeneity and cooperativity of cytotoxic CD8+ T cells as well as NK cells in killing virus-infected cells. Furthermore we aim to decipher the role of myeloid cells in creating an environment around infected cells that contributes control virus-spread to neighboring cells.
