In the previous research project a transmitter integrated circuit has been designed for optical orthotogonal frequency division multiplex transmission. The circuit can support real-time data transmissions for data rates be operated up to 500 Gbit/s using polarization multiplex over the fiber. This proposal is targeting for the characterization of the designed transmitter circuit as well as for optical data transmission experiments using this circuit in the transmitter. As the circuit is designed for real-time transmission appropriate printed circuit board designs are required to support the required input data rate to the transmitter circuit and to characterize the digital part as well as the two integrated digital-to-analog-converters of the circuit. At first the functionality of the digital signal processor as well as the sampling rate and the resolution of the digital-to-analog-converters on the integrated circuits have to be verified using adequate test procedures on the printed circuit board. In a second phase transmission experiments will be performed together with the research group of the INÜ. Finally real-time optical-data transmission experiments with data rates up to half a TB/s will be demonstrated in cooperation.
