Systems biology of the interaction between Roseobacters and algae (C05)

Subject Area Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 34509606

Project Description

Interactions between the D. shibae and P. inhibens and the algae P. minimum and T. rotula will be analysed with a focus on the role of temperature and transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolomic responses. Axenic cultures of the algae will be compared to those harbouring a natural phyco-microbiome within the range of the algae’s growth temperatures and beyond. A proteome map of both algae will be constructed and the response to temperature will be determined. The project will provide urgently needed experimental data on the outcome of increased temperature for the interaction between marine algae and their microbiome.
