Project Details
Extrachromosomal, extraordinaray and essential - the mobilome of the Roseobacter group (A05)
Subject Area
Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term
from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 34509606
This project represents a central hinge due to the ecological and physiological relevance of extrachromosomal elements for the Roseobacter group. In the third application phase the investigations will focus on the intriguing consequences of conjugation in the organisms D. shibae and P. inhibens leading to the prediction that plasmid-mediated horizontal gene transfer triggers the adaptation of the Roseobacter group to new ecological niches.
