Palladium-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization is a very powerful and attractive method for the construction of complex structures allowing the formation of multiple C-C bonds in a onestep procedure starting from easily accessible substrates. Based on the Lautens’ modified Catellani’s reaction conditions, novel approaches to access carbocycles and heterocycles scaffolds are herein described. These methods should also facilitate the synthesis of natural products and pharmaceutically active substances presenting interesting biological activities thanks to their efficiency, their broad functional groups tolerance and their use of simple building blocks.
