The integration of neuroimaging methods with high temporal and spatial resolution is an important goal for neuroscience of the human brain. In the project proposed here we plan a series of experiments to integrate fMRI and MEG for sensory perception as well as cognitive domains. We will perform experiments for methodological development purposes and also to probe specific physiological hypotheses. Our approach to this is innovative in that we will probe the correlation of BOLD signals and neural MEG signals in a quantitative fashion. Thus we will make a contribution to a principal understanding of the link between electrophysiological and hemodynamic measures. In addition, we will be able to test certain specific hypotheses that would not be amenable otherwise. In this project we will focus on the auditory perceptual and working memory domains in temporal and prefrontal cortices.
