Christian Thomasius is well-known as a central figure of the German and even of the european enlightenment, but in spite of this esteem there were no attempts to publish his correspondence as a whole in the past. The project which started in 2010 is working on an annotated and complete edition of the whole correspondence of Christian Thomasius. Its aim is to open new sources of unknown material which will play a significant role within the research of the works of Thomasius and the studies on early enlightenment in general. The edition is expected to give deeper insights into the structure of scholarly communications in the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century and in the theoretical and practical problems and the solutions, which were at that time discussed with a close look at the social and political developments and changes.
