Project Details
Mechanisms of Force Transduction across Talin to Integrin-Ligand Complexes (B03)
Subject Area
Biophysics
Term
from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 111166240
Cells attachment to the extracellular matrix is mediated by integrins, which associate through Talin and Kindlin to the actomyosin cytoskeleton and thereby transduce actomyosin-induced forces to integrin ligand-bonds resulting in cell adhesion strengthening. We want to investigate how Talin and Kindlin bind to integrin cytoplasmic domains and how the new Talin-binding protein Kank regulates force transmission across Talin to integrins.
