Functional analysis of bacterial Type VI effectors in EBI3-dependent regulation of enteric infection and inflammation (B07)

Subject Area Immunology
Term from 2009 to 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 52732026

Project Description

In this project, we will explore how antagonistic interactions between commensals and pathogenic bacteria via effector proteins in their T6SS influence the manifestation of intestinal diseases. We will compare, using different model organisms and a combination of in vitro and in vivo studies and next generation sequencing, how various gut-trophic bacteria encoding functional T6SS clusters differentially alter the gut microbial composition and how these T6SS dependent effects on the microbiome specifically affect the host susceptibility to intestinal inflammation.
