Final Report Abstract
In conclusion, our work strongly suggests that the CRH-R1 is not the main candidate, via which CRH inhibits the activity of the HPG axis during stress. Although the analysis of the upcoming experiments is still required, we believe that our data – even at the present state – are of great interest for scientists in the field of stress and reproductive physiology. The results obtained – in contrast to the generally accepted dogma (Rivier et al., 1986) – could reorient the research towards other molecules and mechanisms inhibiting reproduction during stress. The dissection of these mechanisms is highly relevant to alteration of sexual competence in humans, afflicted with stress and stress-related disorders.
