Phenotype and function of CD4+ T lymphocytes in autoimmune hepatitis (B05)

Subject Area Gastroenterology
Term from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 80750187

Project Description

CD4+ T lymphocytes play a key role in pathogenesis of autoimmune hepatitis. We seek to characterize the phenotype and function of CD4+ T lymphocytes and to identify the autoantigen targeted by the T cells. As TNF secretion seems to characterize these pathogenic T-cells, we plan a clinical study using infliximab as a steroid-substitute in inducing remission in patients with newly diagnosed autoimmune hepatitis.
