Optimization, pulse shaping and optical control in nanostructures
Applicant
Professor Dr. Jens Förstner
Subject Area
Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2009 to 2014
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 138690725
The goal of this research project is the application of optimization approaches to optically excited nanostructures consisting of metal, dielectrics and semiconductors including hybrid structures. Allowing variation of geometrical features of nanostructures and pulse shaping, the maximization of target functions is achieved using problem-specific optimization algorithms. This will allow optical control of features like transmission, spatio-temporal excitation patterns and ultrafast gain properties.
