Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 13820845
This project seeks to better understand the mesoscale controls on where tropical convection will be initiated, how it will be organized, what controls the amount of precipitation it produces, and how well it can be forecast. This will be achieved through an integrated program of numerical modeling and field observation in a region of the tropics at a time of year when organized convective systems are abundant. A phenomenon of particular interest is the wet-season manifestation of the North Australian Cloud Line that occurs frequently during monsoon break periods.
