Femtosecond quantum optics with semiconductor-metal hybrid nanostructures

Applicant Professor Dr. Rudolf Bratschitsch
Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2009 to 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 137420827

Project Description

The goal of the proposed project is the ultrafast initialization, manipulation, and readout of single electrons with single photons in a single self-assembled semiconductor quantum dot. The efficient coupling between the light field and the nanoobject is provided by an optical antenna. The ultrafast dynamics in the quantum dot - metal nanoantenna hybrid system is studied via ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy. For further increase of the light-matter coupling the hybrid system is placed into an optical microcavity, or a Tamm plasmonic structure is used.
