L. Hofbauer and C. Hofbauer showed that pro-osteogenic sHA3 has a high binding affinity to sclerostin, an inhibitor of the Wnt signaling pathway. In the third funding period the interactions of sHA3 with the Wnt signal pathway inhibitors sclerostin and DKK-1 in normal and delayed bone regeneration will be elucidated. As a translational step, the most important results from animal experiments and molecular biology will be validated using human bone cell and tissue samples.
