The aim of V. Hintze is the characterization of aECM from fibrillar collagen and GAG derivatives as well as the analysis of the interaction of GAG with mediator proteins. In addition, further analyses are conducted on the regulatory function of GAG derivatives in the ECM remodeling by matrix metal proteinases. Ultimately, the transfer of these findings into the design of scaffolds is planned. The healing in soft and hard tissue can be specifically influenced by varying the stiffness and the incorporation of essential mediators into these scaffolds.
