Machining of molds with filigree structures for sheet-bulk metal forming (B02)

Subject Area Metal-Cutting and Abrasive Manufacturing Engineering
Term from 2009 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 68237143

Project Description

The SP B2 aims at the knowledge-based planning and the realization of micro-milling processes for the manufacturing of sheet bulk metal forming tools. Investigations on the micro-milling of reinforced forming tools as well as a comprehensive analysis of the surface integrity of the machined workpieces are focused. The latter has to be related to the wear behaviour of the forming tools, when they are applied in the sheet bulk metal forming process. The realization of functional surfaces, e.g. for the control of friction, must be supported by an appropriate automated NC-path generation.
