Project Details
Fundamental research and process development for the manufacturing of load-optimized parts by incremental sheet-bulk metal forming (A04)
Subject Area
Primary Shaping and Reshaping Technology, Additive Manufacturing
Term
from 2009 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 68237143
The local setting of the workpiece contour, the sheet thickness, and the hardening on the basis of individual requirements are the most important advantages provided by the research approach fol-lowed here. Incremental and localized bulk forming operations are applied to sheet metals with initial thicknesses of 2 – 3 mm. The key innovation is the defined control of the material flow in a sequence of forming operations. The experimental investigations are conducted on a five-axis forming press which allows a wide variety of forming operations in almost any temporal and spatial arrangement.
