Nucleoredoxin as regulator of neuronal activity and plasticity (A12)

Subject Area Pharmacology
Anaesthesiology
Term from 2009 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 61867463

Project Description

The aim of the project is to characterize functions of nucleoredoxin (Nxn) for neuronal redox-homeostasis in health, aging, stress response and after axonal injury. These questions shall be addressed in vitro and in vivo using neuron-specific Nxn-deficient mice. We will analyze the behavior using models of neuropathic pain, learning & memory and chronic unpredictable mild stress. The plasticity of dendritic spines and calcium signals shall be analyzed in brain slice cultures and primary cells and we will employ proteomic studies to characterize Nxn-dependent redox-signatures and the Nxn-interactome.
